South Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment has announced that its new girl group, Baby Monster, will make their debut in the fall as a septet.
Baby Monster, previously known as Magnolia, is YG Entertainment’s first girl group in five years since the debut of Blackpink in 2016. The group consists of seven members: J, Gyeongmin, Eunseo, Yoon, Narin, Loha, and U-Si.
The group was originally set to debut in 2020, but the pandemic caused delays in their debut plans. Since then, the group has been building a strong fan base through various pre-debut activities, including participating in YG Treasure Box, a survival program that aired in 2019, and releasing several dance covers on their social media channels.
In a statement, YG Entertainment said that Baby Monster’s debut will be “a new turning point in the Korean pop music industry,” adding that the group “has the potential to become a global sensation.”
YG Entertainment is one of the biggest entertainment companies in South Korea, and is home to some of the country’s biggest K-pop acts, including Big Bang, 2NE1, and Blackpink.
The announcement of Baby Monster’s debut has generated a lot of buzz among K-pop fans, with many eagerly anticipating the group’s first release.
